Validation of Industrial Machinery using Hardware-In-The-Loop Technologies

Application: Testing and Measurement
Status: Completed May 2018

Provided a phone consultation to a project team at a Testing and Measurement company who wanted to better understand various aspects about validation for industrial machinery using Hardware-in-the-Loop technologies (HIL). They wanted to gain insight on what tests are being performed, what the unmet needs are, and the overall application architecture in the space.

The consultation included an overview of what the HIL system is used for, what the workflow is, and what the tasks and activities are with a typical project. Discussion covered the goals and objectives in this HIL Validation job area and what tools and solutions are used. Products used and/or evaluated, what works and what doesn’t when validating a system using HIL methodologies, and the top pain points throughout the entire process were covered. Purchasing criteria on deciding on a HIL solution, prioritized metrics, factors for looking for a new HIL tool or solution were discussed.
